What Can You Do with an RPP?

With a Recreational Pilot Permit, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Fly a single-engine airplane with up to four seats.
  • Carry one passenger on your flights.
  • Fly only during daylight hours.
  • Operate under visual meteorological conditions, within Canadian airspace.

Please note that an RPP does not allow for additional ratings, such as a multi-engine rating.

Requirements for Obtaining an RPP:

  • Age: You must be at least 16 years old.
  • Medical Certificate: Obtain a valid Category 4 medical certificate.
  • Written Exam: Successfully complete the written exam.
  • Flight Instruction: Accumulate a minimum of 25 hours of flight instruction.
  • Flight Test: Pass the flight test.
