Preparing for Your Travel to Canada

Before traveling to Canada, ensure that you meet the eligibility requirements and have all the necessary documentation. To enter Canada as an international student, you must have either a valid study permit or a letter of introduction confirming your study permit approval—unless exempt—and be enrolled at a designated learning institution (DLI). It is recommended that you plan your arrival as early as possible after receiving your documents to avoid peak travel times in late August, early September, and early January.
