Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)
For those aspiring to build a career as a professional pilot, earning your Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) is the next step beyond the Private Pilot Licence. This certification allows you to fly for hire and reward, opening the door to opportunities in charter operations, flight instruction, corporate aviation, and more.
At Millennium Aviation, we provide a structured, Transport Canada-approved training program that prepares you to meet both the technical and professional standards required to launch your aviation career with confidence.
PREREQUISITES:
- Private Pilot Licence (PPL) required.
- Education: Millennium requires a high school diploma or an equivalent secondary school completion.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years old to obtain a CPL.
- Medical: Category 1 Aviation Medical required.
Course Length:
- Anticipate 3-4 months full-time, 1-2 years if part-time.
REQUIREMENTS AT COMPLETION OF CPL:
- Ground School: Minimum 80 hours.
- Flight Training: 65 hours total (35 hours dual instruction + 30 hours solo practice).
- Flight Experience: Minimum 200 total flight hours, including:
- 100 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC).
- 20 hours cross-country flying.
- All previous flight experience counts toward the 200-hour requirement; additional time-building may be necessary.
- Exams:
- Written: Minimum 60% pass mark.
- Flight Test: Conducted by a Transport Canada-approved Pilot Examiner.
With a CPL, a person may:
- Fly an airplane of class/type which the licence is endorsed by a rating (e.g. multi-engine seaplane) and be paid to do so
- Add any desired rating to your licence (e.g. seaplane rating).
